Nestled in the rolling hills of the Huy (pronounced ‘Hü’), a beech-covered range near Halberstadt, Huysburg Abbey is the starting point for walks, hikes, pilgrimages and cycle tours. Well-maintained paths invite you to explore the peaceful forests. By the way: Huysburg is one of 32 churches on the St James’s Pilgrimage Route in Saxony-Anhalt.

The historic towns of Halberstadt, Wernigerode and Quedlinburg are all nearby and attract visitors with cultural gems such as the Halberstadt Cathedral Treasury, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, winding alleyways and impressive architecture. Whether museums, churches, concert halls or theatres – there is plenty to discover here. Huysburg Castle is part of the Romanesque Route and serves as an ideal starting point for exploring further Romanesque treasures in the region – such as Drübeck Abbey or Michaelstein Abbey near Blankenburg.
